2008 Community Teams
CCETC Dragoneers
Our motto is "We're In It To Win It!". The majority of our team are staff members of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County, the rest are connected to Extension via campus, college students, spouses, volunteers or friends. CCETC's mission is to strengthen youth, adults, families and communities through learning partnerships that put knowledge to work. Our proud sponsors are Tompkins County Reality Check and CCETC.
Cornell Paddlistas (College of Architecture, Art and Planning at Cornell University)
The Cornell Paddlistas are a motley crew comprised primarily of faculty, staff and graduate students from the College of Architecture, Art and Planning, and a few real people who can actually paddle. Having made the leap from dead last in 2006 to second place in 2007, they have set their sights on first place in 2008.
CU @ the Finish Line (Alternatives Federal Credit Union)
Alternatives Federal Credit Union (winner of the first Community Division race of the Fingerlakes International Dragon Boat Festival!) is no ordinary financial institution. Our mission is to build wealth and create economic opportunity for underserved people and communities. Our services are designed to help move people toward financial self-sufficiency by combining loan products and investment opportunities with financial education.
The Racker Racers (Franziska Racker Centers)
Incorporated in 1948, the Centers is a private, nonprofit organization that employs more than 600 people and serves mainly Tompkins, Cortland and Tioga Counties. The agency is proud to be "celebrating sixty" years of serving individuals with special needs and their families.
The mission of Franziska Racker Centers is to help these individuals achieve their goals for success and happiness. The vision of the Centers is to work within the community to celebrate diversity and promote human interdependence. The Centers staff works in the homes of families, in schools, in the Centers' facilities and residences, and with other organizations to provide programs for those with special needs, from infants to senior citizens. Services and programs include special education preschool, school age counseling and crisis programs, residential housing, service coordination, respite and family focused programs.
